How to get started with your Plants Play

 

– Important Notice –

0. I followed the quick start guide but no music is generated by plants

If the screen is green but the graph and music are not generated, or the app shows red “device not found” screen, there is a conflict with your phone’s operating system. You follow these instructions:

1- close the app (kill it completely) and turn off the device if it is on

2- turn off the wifi

3- go to Settings-> Privacy-> Authorization management-> Geolocation-> Plants Play-> Always allow

4- open the Plants Play app and turn on the Plants Play device

5- If the problem is not solved, turn off the Phone and repeat the process.

FAQ

1. Can Plants Play be used on people?

The device is calibrated to be used on plants.

 

2. Can Plants Play be used under the rain?

It is absolutely prohibited, risks are dangerous circuits for people and trees.

 

3. Where do I put sensors on plants?

On the most robust and thick leaves.

 

4. Where do I put sensors on the trees?

On the leaves. If they are not available, you put on the trunk of the tree or on the branches. If the trees have thick cortex, you can put the sensors where the cortex has just formed because there has been a cut.

 

5. The sensor cable is too short and does not reach the leaves.

You can use the chain to hang it on a branch to have the device near the leaves.

 

6. Can I reuse the adhesive electrodes?

You can use them until they no longer adhere to the surfaces. Once consumed they can be purchased from our website or from other resellers with compatible models of 3.5 mm the button.

 

7. Do you ship Plants Play all over the world?

Yes, we ship worldwide with fast postal couriers.

 

8. How do I charge the Plants Play battery?

You can put the supplied USB cable into Universal USB charging socket (5 Volt OUTPUT) and in about 6 hours the charging is complete.

 

9. How do I understand that the battery is charged?

When the device is switched off and charged, to signal the complete loading, the green LED turns on instead of the red LED.

 

10. How long does the battery go on?

About 20 hours with consecutive use.

 

11. How do I understand if the battery charge is finishing?

The red LED near the blue LED lights up and the battery icon in the app’s menu have red color. From that moment about 20 minutes are left when the device is turned off.

 

12. Can the battery stay empty?

No, it could be ruined. Better to keep it charged

 

13. What are the minimum system requirements?

If you have Apple device iOS 10+, if you have other devices Android 6+

 

14. Where Can I download the Plants Play app?

You can search Plants Play on Apple Store / Google Play Store or click on the specific icons on our website.

 

15. Can I download the app on multiple phones / tablets?

Yes, the app has no license limits.

 

16. The device can not be connected, in the app the red “Device Not Found” screen appears. What should I do to connect it?

Try in order:

1 – Turn off the device

2 – Kill the app

3 – Turn off the bluetooth, wait 5 seconds and then turn it on again

4 – Turn on the device

5 – Open the app and check if it works now, otherwise repeat the process

You can also try this procedure:

1- close the app (kill it completely) and turn off the device if it is on
2- turn off the wifi

17. I do not understand how the app works

Click on “help” in the menu and question icon (?) will appear on each screen. By clicking on it, you will open a tutorial that will show you the functions of that screen.

 

18. Why do some plants or trees not play?

Try increasing sensitivity on App, or try to put the sensors in another place. If it does not play still, then the tree or plant have not electrical variations at that particular moment.

 

19. Can I record the plant live music?

Yes, just open the recording screen (swipe up logo icon) and choose if you want to record a video, or just the audio. If you record video with sound from the phone’s microphone (microphone icon select), set the music volume to a very low level (less than half), otherwise the recording will be distorted. If you record only audio set the music volume as you want.

 

20. Can I share the plant music or videos with my friends on social networks?

Yes, in media library screen you will find all your recordings. You move your finger on file from right to left to share or delete.

 

21. Can I record the musical score that the plant makes up?

Yes, after recording, you will choose if you want to save the MIDI file

 

22. When I record a video, can I take only the music of the plant instead of microphone sound?

Yes, just click on the microphone icon and you will see the music icon appear.

 

23. Where are the videos and music that I saved?

You find them in media gallery screen. You can open the media gallery screen moving your finger from left to right in the “plant activity” screen.

 

24. Can the plant play with other instruments?

Yes, in the instrument screen you can select what you prefer. You can open the instrument screen moving your finger from right to left in the “plant activity” screen

 

25. Can the plant play with custom musical scale?

Yes, you can set the custom scale in the “Scale” screen.

 

26. Can the plant play with tuning at 432 Hz?

Yes, the plant can play with 432 Hz or 440 Hz tuning, or you can choose the frequency you prefer using the Detuning sound effect

 

27. What is a Preset?

It is the selection of one instrument, one musical scale and some effects. You can save the name preset and open it when you want.

 

26. How can I save a Preset?

In the Plant Activity screen, keep pressed the name of the plant and save a new preset. If you have already modified the preset you will see the down arrow icon, click on it and then click on (+) icons to add a new preset or on (*) icon,s to overwrite the current preset.

 

27. Where can I select the saved Presets?

In the Plants Activity screen, click on the name of current preset and a menu will open with all saved presets.

 

28. Can i revert last changes and come back to default preset?

Yes, you can click on the (x) icon in “Plant Activity” and reset the current preset.

 

29. Can I use Plants Play with music production software or with an external synthesizer?

Yes, you can do it with the Midi/Usb cable that we sell on our website.

 

30. I plugged the MIDI cable in synthesizer but it does not work, why?

You need to plug the MIDI cable into the computer / synthesizer and also the USB cable to electrical power source. Plants Play works at 3.3 volts while MIDI signal at 5 volts, so the MIDI connection needs an external power supply.

 

31. Where do I set the sensitivity when Plants Play is connected by MIDI cable?

You can adjust it from the app by holding down the main key with the logo on the Plants Activity screen.

32. If I close the app there is a red stripe at the top of the phone. How do I remove it?

You can kill the app or you tap on the icon MENU -> Settings -> Play Background -> Select NO.

 

33. The Special Cable for Flowers does not work.

You wet the surface of the leaves where you put the sensors.

 

34. The app also plays when the sensors are not set to anything. Why?

Because “emulate plant” is turn on. Tap on menu icon (top right) –> settings –> emulate plant –> NO

 

35. No music is generated by plants (conflict with a bluetooth device)

If the screen is green but the graph and music are not generated, or the app shows red “device not found” screen, there is a conflict with a bluetooth device that you have previously used. You follow these instructions to clean your smartphone’s bluetooth cache:

– Turn off the Plants Play and you open bluetooth settings and disassociate all the devices on the screen. None of them should remain.

– When the screen is clean, turn off bluetooth, then turn the phone off and on again.
– Once the phone is turned on, turn on bluetooth, turn on Plants Play and launch the app.

– you repeat the second and third point if you still don’t hear music generated and check if the sensors are correctly positioned on the leaves of the plant.
